Our Community

Albany, Ohio is a small but proud village just west of Athens, rooted in a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century. Founded by pioneers drawn to the area’s fertile farmland, Albany grew into a community known for strong educational and religious values and played a meaningful role in the Underground Railroad. Incorporated in 1842, the village developed through agriculture, small businesses, and close ties to Athens and Ohio University. Today, Albany remains a tight-knit community that honors its past while investing in its future. Through events like the Albany Fall Festival and Christmas in the Village, Albany Ohio Festivals, Inc. celebrates this heritage by bringing families and neighbors together, supporting local businesses, and continuing a tradition of unity, service, and community pride.
